Maybe Willian’s Daughter Really Did Do It

So I was having a chat with a friend last night, and among other topics that came up was a brief mention about Antonio Conte, and Willian, and the whole daughter thing with the trophies and Instagram. We’ve I think literally all had a hearty chuckle over the apparent absurdity of this explanation, but let me pose the following sequence of events that we came up with last night:

  1. We know Antonio Conte is trophy obsessed, yes?
  2. He likely brought this obsession to the clubhouse, and the training sessions, while in charge at Chelsea.
  3. The players probably, if not tired of hearing it, at least were exhausted at hearing this repetition of ‘trophy, trophy, trophy’, right?
  4. As a parent, I know that I will sometimes chat about my work at home, and if my boss were to harp on something repeatedly, I would mention this at home, definitely to my wife, and quite possibly even at the dinner table.
  5. I can easily see Willian saying over dinner on several nights something like the following: “Trophies, trophies, trophies, Antonio is always talking about trophies. Every day we hear about trophies!”
  6. Willian’s daughter(s) hear this repeatedly, and start to associate Daddy’s boss with trophies.
  7. They play with Daddy’s images on his phone, and see his boss, and put trophies on him, because that’s what they hear about.
  8. Daddy’s either not paying attention (as he says) or just finds it funny, and posts the image anyway.

Now, don’t get me wrong, there are several leaps in the above, but this is the very FIRST time I’ve seen a chain of events that at least remotely seems plausible here. So maybe it’s true! We’ll never know, right?
