Oh boy, talk about an important match. After Arsenal did their usual thing, and Spurs and United have kept on doing their usual thing, here’s Chelsea, now within 1 point of third place in the Premier League table. Even on points with fourth place. Sure, there’s still a four goal differential, but talk about opportunity. West Ham at home.
Fun fact about playing West Ham at the Bridge. We have not lost to West Ham at our place since Roman bought the club. That’s right. We are 9-4-0 at home against them since 2003/04, with a nice fat 17 goal differential.
If we look at all of the matches, of teams with 25 or more matches played against us since 2003/04, we have the second best overall win rate against West Ham, at 63.0%. Only Fulham have fared worse to us, losing an absurd 69.2% of the time.
Overall, we’ve played West Ham 70 times, winning 33 with 19 draws and 8 losses, winning 54.3% of the time at home. To be fair to West Ham, they are in 11th place right now in the League, and have a top class manager manning the helm in Pellegrini. But they’ve also only scored 14 goals away from London Stadium this season in 15 matches.
If past results are anything to go by, these are the most frequent results at home historically versus West Ham:
- 1-1 Draw – 14.3%
- 2-1 Win – 11.4%
- 1-0 Win – 11.4%
- 2-0 Win – 8.6%
- 0-0 Draw – 5.7%
- 1-2 Loss – 5.7%
- 3-0 Win – 5.7%
- 4-1 Win – 5.7%
Me? I’m calling it a comfortable 3-1 win, only because I like to go against the odds. 2.9% for the win, baby!
